Getting started

Starting therapy, step by step

Beginning therapy is a meaningful step — and it doesn't require having everything figured out first. Here's how getting started usually works, from first contact through ongoing sessions.

The process
What to expect when you begin

Every therapist works a little differently, but most paths share the same broad shape: a consultation to see if you're a good fit, a first session to get oriented, and then work that unfolds at your pace.

Before you meet
01
Reaching out
Send an email or book online — a brief hello and what you're hoping to work on is enough. I'll respond within 1–2 business days to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.
15-minute call
02
The consultation
A low-pressure conversation — not a formal assessment. Ask questions, share a little about what's bringing you in, and see if we're a good fit. You're interviewing me too.
Session 1
03
Your first session
We get to know each other. I'll ask about your life and what you'd like support with. Nothing to prepare — just show up as you are.
Ongoing work
04
Building the work together
We identify themes and direction together over time. You're always in the driver's seat. We move at a pace that feels right for you.
