Frequently asked questions

Common questions

Quick answers about starting therapy, sessions, and fees. For anything else, get in touch or book a free consultation — I'm happy to talk it through.

Getting started
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy is for anyone who wants support, clarity, or growth — you don't need to be in crisis. Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply curious about yourself are all valid reasons to start. A free 15-minute consultation is a low-stakes way to explore whether we're a good fit.
What happens during the first session?
Mostly getting to know each other — your life, what brings you in, and what you're hoping for. No script and no evaluation. You don't need to prepare anything; come as you are.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes — a free 15-minute call before the first session. Ask questions, share what's on your mind, and see if we're a good fit. No commitment and no pressure. See how getting started works →
How long does therapy take?
It depends on your goals and what you're working through. Some people come for a few focused months; others work longer-term. We'll check in regularly and adjust together — no pressure to stay longer than is helpful, or to stop before you're ready.
Sessions & location
Where do sessions take place?
I work with adults 18+ individually and as couples. In-person sessions are in Ballard, Seattle at 5306 Ballard Ave NW. Virtual sessions are available statewide in Washington through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform — entirely your choice.
How often will we meet?
Most clients start weekly to build momentum. Over time we may shift to every other week, depending on your goals and what's most helpful. We'll decide together.
Do you offer sessions in Spanish?
Sí — ofrezco sesiones en español. Let me know when you reach out if you'd prefer Spanish, English, or both.
Pricing & insurance
What are your session fees?
Individual therapy is $160 and couples therapy is $170 per 50-minute session. Payment is processed following your appointment on the day of service through my secure client portal. Full details — including insurance, Good Faith Estimates, and cancellation — are on the Pricing page.
Do you accept insurance?
No — I do not accept insurance or bill insurers directly. All sessions are private pay. If your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a superbill after you pay that you may submit for possible reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan — please contact your insurer before your first session. See the Pricing page for questions to ask your insurer and how diagnosis codes may affect reimbursement.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full session fee. If something unexpected comes up, please reach out as soon as you can.
Confidentiality & safety
Is everything I share confidential?
Yes — with limited legal exceptions, such as imminent danger or abuse involving minors or vulnerable adults. I'll walk through informed consent with you before we begin; ask anytime if you have questions.
What if I'm in crisis or need help right now?
This website and email are not monitored 24/7. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911. For mental health crisis support, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).
What if therapy doesn't feel like the right fit?
Fit matters. If our work isn't meeting your needs, tell me — we can adjust, talk about what's not working, or I can help you find another therapist. Your care comes first.
